After the Japan Tsunami of 2011, I composed a work for cello to comfort Hiromitsu Shinkawa (age 60) who floated on the roof of his house two days with gusty winds, snow flurries, and night temperatures dipping just below freezing. The Japan earthquake hit at 2:47 pm and tsunami about 25 min after on March 11, 2011. He was rescued ten miles (15 Km) out to sea.  He lost his wife as well as his home city of Minamisoma on near northeast coast.
